Tonpeiyaki
Ingredients:
2 oz thin pork belly slices
3 oz long green onion
2 eggs
salt & pepper
thin shaved bonito flakes
Step by step:
First, slice your green onion in diagonal cuts and cut the pork slices into 1.5-2 inch pieces
Place the pork slices into a heated pan, cook, then flip and lightly cook the other side
Then, add the long green onion and season with salt and pepper
Saute onion until slightly brown and place pork on top to reduce cooking speed
Now, push the pork and green onion to one side
In a separate bowl, beat your eggs
When beaten, pour the egg next to the onion and pork
Let the egg cook, gently pushing the sides with a rubber spatula, allowing excess egg to pour over the sides to cook
Once the egg is mostly cooked, place your pork and green onion in the middle of the egg
Gently, slide the egg with the pork and onion onto a plate, then fold the egg onto itself like a taco or an omelette
Top your tonpeiyaki with kewpie mayo, okonomiyaki sauce, bonito flakes, and aonori seaweed! Now, you’re ready to eat! Enjoy!
