Matcha Vanilla Milk Shake
Good morning! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Today I'll be catching up on emails and hitting the gym later for week 10 abs. Also, I'm considering buying a Nutri Ninja blender! Does anyone have one? And if you do, how is it?! Wish I could afford a VitaMix but that will have to wait ahha, in the mean time I've heard so many good things about the Ninja and I'm excited to upgrade my $20 Osterizer blender :P
Today I made an antioxidant- protein packed shake. Its gorgeous deep green color comes from Matcha! I listed some of known health benefits of Matcha below, they are:
Packed with Antioxidants
Boosts metabolism and burns calories
Detoxifies naturally
Calms the mind and relaxes the body
Is rich in fiber, chlorophyll and vitamins
Provides vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium
Lowers cholesterol and blood sugar
I'm half Japanese ,so Matcha has been a part of my life since I was little. My mom is also a Matcha Guru and performs in tea ceremonies while wearing beautiful kimonos. It's such a meditative art form and I aspire to learn it one day in hopes of being more graceful and less clumsy! She thinks I should too lol
Anyway, the Matcha I'm using today is from Ocha Matcha. The kind folks there gave me a sample to try so I came up with a recipe that I could incorporate into my post-work out shakes everyday!
I've gotten many questions on the kind of protein I use! If you are on the look out for a new protein, try Vega! I love this one because it blends so well with all the smoothies I make, and also tastes great. It has 30 grams of protein per scoop and includes ingredients such as tart cherry, turmeric and probiotics- which I don't see in other protein powders. I also religiously use their Pre- workout Energizer , which I'm sure you've heard me raving about pretty much everyday if you watch my snapchat. I pretty much refuse to work out without it at this point. lol
RECIPE:
1 Cup Almond Milk
1 Tbsp Ocha Matcha Powder
1 Tbsp Honey
1/2 Scoop Vega Sport Vanilla Protein
1/8 Squeeze of Lemon
1/2 Tbsp Hemp Seeds
1/4 Cup Coconut Bliss Vanilla Icecream (optional)
Handful of Ice
METHOD:
Blend well until smooth <3
Pour in a glass and enjoy! You can also add a frozen banana if you want a fuller more "meal replacement" shake. I topped mine with coconut flakes and had a sliced papaya with lemon.
Love you all and thanks for taking the time to read!!
