Teriyaki chicken
Ingredients:
The chicken
1 knob ginger, grated
1 lb chicken drumsticks or thighs
2 cloves garlic, minced/crushed
1/4 cup sake
The teriyaki sauce:
To garnish:
1/2 tsp toasted sesame seeds
1 green onion/scallion, thinly sliced diagonally
Step by step:
Grate ginger and measure 1 tsp.
Place the chicken in a large bowl and add 2 minced garlic cloves, 1 tsp of ginger and sake
Then add salt and pepper and mix well until the chicken is completely coated
Next, heat the dutch oven over medium low heat. Once the pot is hot add the chicken drumsticks, cook 4 minutes on each side
Once browned, add honey, sake, mirin, and soy sauce. Make sure all the wings are fully coated in the sauce
Lower the heat and simmer for about 3-4 minutes, until the sauce is reduced and thickens.
If sauce starts to burn, just lower the heat. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onion.
Serve hot with a bowl of rice and steamed veggies! ENJOY!
