I love everything about the start of a new year - writing down goals, manifesting with no limits, and the opportunity to start fresh. For me, organizing and decluttering my home, sets the pace for everything else. One of my goals this year is to live more minimally. Why have 70 shirts when I only really wear 5? Or why store boxes of shoes in the closet just in case I want to wear them later? I know myself too well, and if it’s something I haven’t used in over a month, they will most likely never see the light of day. Lists and organizing is my jam, so today I wanted to share how I’m planning to declutter my home and tackle projects I’ve been avoiding for a long time. I’m a big believer in planning! Whether it’s in my bullet journal or calendar. I will usually plan out the week every Sunday and fine tune the next days’ to-do list the night before. It’s the only way I’m able to juggle these personal projects, deadlines, shoots, travels, events, and family time. So, I’m hitting the ground running with a big to-do list, a clear mind, healthy body and goals to accomplish!

DEEP CLEAN + ORGANIZE

Plan a day each weekend of the month to deep clean every closet in your space. For me, this includes my entry closet, my clothes closet, beauty closet, linen closet, and storage closet. Pull everything out of it and start categorizing what’s inside into piles. For example- in my linen closet, I organized king pillowcases from queen pillowcases and folded all dish towels and hair towels into their own bins. I threw away anything that was permanently stained or missing a counterpart and donated the rest.

Pro tip: store everything in a clear bin and label it.

CLEAN OUT EMAILS

Don’t wait until you have 18,000 emails (me last year) to start cleaning it up. I found an app to quickly manage my unwanted marketing subscriptions and since then, I’ve been staying on top of it. I am MUCH more efficient on emails and it’s a great feeling to see your inbox down to 0 at the end of each day.

CLEAN OUT YOUR PHONE

If you’re like me and have hundreds of apps and you’re scrolling endlessly to find what you’re looking for, it’s time to start deleting and categorizing! I have a category for photo editing, finances, delivery services, transportation, navigation, and resources. Pro tip: Do this while you’re on the treadmill at the gym ; )

DEEP CLEAN YOUR DESK

This includes, your desktop!! Delete everything you don’t need or file them into a folder, choose a new wallpaper and keep it clean. Out of sight, out of mind! A clean desktop helps me focus on what I’m doing and keeps me from getting distracted. I recycled old papers, mail, post its, and receipts I no longer need and cleared out all my memory cards. Talk about a fresh start!!

PRIORITIZE YOUR HEALTH

Above all, don’t forget to take care of yourself. Schedule in a 1/2 hour of self care daily. It’s a non- negotiable! A lot of the time you’re doing things for everyone else, but yourself and if you neglect taking care of yourself- it’s so easy to feel run down! I take an elderberry supplement daily to help support my immune system. The Emergen-C Immune+® Elderberry gummies taste good and are convenient to take, making it easy to support my immune system. Plus, it has 50mg of elderberry, 750 mg of Vitamin C plus Vitamin D and Zinc in every serving! It’s convenient to take on the go because you don’t need any water- I’ve taken these every day. They have no artificial sweeteners, they’re vegetarian, gluten-free, and caffeine-free.

There you have it! If you plan and time block what you want to accomplish into your calendar down to the knitty gritty details - you will get more done than you ever thought imaginable and will feel so good!

Hope you guys enjoyed this blog post AND HAPPY DECLUTTERING!
