My SPF Routine

Hey guys!
Although we had a rough start to the year, I can’t deny how much happier I am now that summer is here! I’ve always LOVED the sun but my skin is very sensitive. As a child, I used to get really bad heat rashes all over my arms and as a teenager I literally fried my skin off tanning with baby oil on the roof. Oops.
Now that I’m older - I have a little more common sense, thankfully.
I prioritize protecting my skin at all costs. That doesn't mean I avoid going outdoors- it’s quite the opposite actually- I still LOVE being outside, but I will not step out without protection.
I incorporate SPF as part of my daily beauty routine after I work out and shower so I’m ready for my afternoon lunch outdoors or skate with the dogs.
For me, it’s most convenient to apply SPF right after I step out of the shower and lotion up. I prefer the continuous spray on kind because I can get an even layer all over (even the hard to reach places) and it’s quick and mess free. I cycle between 2 different ones depending on what I’m doing. My everyday go-to is the Australian Gold Ultimate Hydration with SPF 30 - I love the way it smells, it goes on clear and it’s non greasy. It’s also thoughtfully packed with Australian’s native ingredients and a healthy dose of antioxidants to provide extra hydration for your skin. I would describe the smell as a combination of coconut, orange and vanilla… literally what a warm day smells like in a bottle.
If I am bike riding, skating with the dogs, or doing a workout outside and I know I’ll be sweating I'll use the Australian Gold Extreme Sport with SPF 50because it actually helps neautralize odors to keep skin smelling fresh and has sweat activated cooling technology which is realllly really cool. It has a clean ocean breeze scent and again, goes on clear and easy to take along with you to reapply.
BTW there is only a small difference between the protection of spf 30 and 50 (97% UVB rays blocked vs 98%)- so I would choose based on the activity you’re doing.
And as a reminder sunscreen is only fully effective for 2 hours after you put it on, so reapplying is a MUST if you’re spending more time outdoors.
I look forward to spending the summer in my backyard and hopefully with friends soon!!
