My nighttime skincare routine
Hi everyone! Good morning, hope everyone is excited for the weekend! :)
I wanted to talk about skincare since it's high up on my self care priority list, and because it's the body's biggest organ. #funfact
Anyway as I get a little older, I’ve started taking the time to build a skin care routine becuase it feels great and I know I’ll thank myself down the road.
Here’s what I do before bed:
Step 1:
Remove makeup with simple micellar cleansing water and cotton pad. Micellar water pulls out dirt, oils, and other impurities without drying out your skin, so I love this stuff. I use a pointed Q-tip and simple water to remove my eye makeup carefully around my eyelash extensions. I’m really gentle here since eyes are so sensitive, plus you can cause wrinkles and puffiness if you’re rubbing too hard.
Step 2:
Wash face with a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil. After my makeup is off, it’s still important to do a full cleanse to make sure EVERYTHING is off. I use something as gentle as possible—the less ingredients the better!
Step 2.5 (1x a week):
Exfoliate with Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Exfoliating Peel Spray. This takes off all dead skin cells on the surface and leaves my face super, super soft. This clean product (and some light exfoliators) can be used daily, but I find that once a week suits my skin best.
Step 3:
Moisturize!!! I'm currently loving the combo of Philosophy Uplifting Miracle Worker "cool lift & tightening moisturizer booster” combined with a dab of Uplifting Miracle Worker "cool lift and firm moisturizer." I blend both on the palm of my hands and then apply all over. It has a cooling & tightening effect and feels like my skin is being pulled up. I apply this in upward motions on my neck and face. Smells so good too!
Step 4:
If I have any blemishes/acne, I will go in with a Q-tip and use Kate Somerville EradiKate Acne Treatment. I apply it directly on the blemish or where I can feel something coming in. Some treatments will dry me out way too much and make the blemish look worse, but not this stuff!
Step 5:
I use This Works Sleep Plus Dream Body cream on my hands, elbows, and knees. It's a blend of pure essential oils that aid in sleep, and I like going to bed feeling really moisturized.
Step 6:
I spray on Boyd's Handmade Essential Oil in lavender & geranium on my wrists and neck and go to sleep. This not only adds extra hydration to those areas, but it also helps me doze off. I love aromatherapy SO MUCH.
Especially in cooler months and when I’m indoors more, I like to add more moisture and oils to my skin. What does your skin care routine look like? Does it change often? I’ll share my morning routine soon since I have some good tips there:)
