Remi's 5 Friday Favs
Celery juicing + Hurom juicerAs you guys may have seen on stories, I hopped on the celery train and started juicing. I am a huge advocate of trying new things especially when it’s something I can easily incorporate into my morning routine. You can read more about the benefits of drinking fresh celery juice here but the main reason I started, was in hopes of clearing my breakouts and eczema on my eye. Since most health issues stem from a degree of inflammation, I decided to give it a try. After 14 consistent days of drinking celery juice on an empty stomach here’s what happened:
My skin felt and visibly looked clearer and more hydrated. Not just my face but my whole body was less dry all over.
The eczema on my inner eyelid started to fade and heal. Whether it happened organically or because of celery juice is unknown but in those 14 days, my eye was pretty much completely healed.
Nate who was also juicing with me had a strong reaction to the detox and he full on had a fever and cold. He hadn’t been sick in yearsss so this came as a huge surprise but it was his body’s way of getting rid of all toxins.
Just like everything else in life, consistency is key. So if this is something you want to explore, try it for at least 7-10 days and pay close attention to how it makes you feel. Start slow… 1/2 a celery stalk mixed in with a cucumber and lemon, and then slowly make your way up to drinking a full celery stalk without combining it with anything else. Overall, I had a positive result and will continue to juice!THe juicer that you see me use in my IG stories is the personal Slow Hurom Juicer. It’s easy to assemble and clean and looks super cute on the counter : ) I highly recommend it!
2. Persona Cosmetics Lip gloss in Honey. My friend Sona who is an amazing beauty blogger recently came out with lip glosses. If you are looking for the perfect nude shade that doesn’t wash your skin out- I highly recommend this shade for all skin types. I’ve been wearing it non stop and love how it doesn’t have a sticky gooey feeling… instead it’s packed with nourishing oils like almond and avocado and makes my lips feel hydrated!
3. Nightshade Restaurant in Arts District. I finally ate here after waiting 1 month for a 6pm reservation and it did not disappoint. OK ok well, Nate and I have different opinions on this BUT here’s why I LOVED it. The creativity and presentation of each dish is Michelin star level, so the pricing is a bit higher for the amount of food that you get (which was Nate’s main complaint). My favorite dishes are the grape tomatoes, Conjee - if you’re really looking for a traditional taiwanese style porridge with shredded pork, egg, green onion, xo sauce, chicken.. it will take your breath away, and of course all of their desserts. Get them all.. One of each... Hahah
4. All Birds shoe - literally the most comfortable lifestyle shoe I’ve slipped my feet into. I love the minimal design (no flashy logos or unnecessary designs)- they are super easy to wear wear with anything and is also made out of the softest wool. I have them in white and red :) They have a cool policy where you can wear the shoe for up to 30 days and if you don’t like them, you can return them no questions asked!
5. I was recently asked what one product I would buy over and over… and hands down it would be Coco Floss. They market the floss as the “world’s most tastiest floss” and yes...that is true, they have flavors like strawberry, coconut, vanilla bean, cara cara orange, mint...and the subtle scent and flavor DOES make it more pleasant to floss with but what sells it to me most is the BLUE GRIME GRABBING FIBERS infused with coconut oil for detoxing properties. I feel like I need to be one of their spokesperson. This floss gets more plaque out than ANY other floss I’ve tried in my entire life. I go through this stuff so freaking fast (I’m a once a day flosser) and it’s something that I will not be able to live without.
And there you have it, my top 5 favorites to share with you this week!
If you try any of my favs I’d love to hear what you thought of them too (you can find me on social @rrayyme)
