All About My Skincare Routine!!!
Hiiiii it’s me, Remi!
Today’s topic is SKINCARE!!! It is sooooo important to find the right skincare routine for your specific skin concerns. A skincare routine that keeps your face looking young, healthy, hydrated, and even-toned is essential!
When I was in my 20s, I didn’t do a great job of taking care of my skin. I like to look tan, and I used to sit outside behind my house with baby oil on my face, just trying to get that perfect, tanned look. But here’s the thing: Once sun damage is done, it’s done. I definitely have sun spots, freckles, and some hyperpigmentation that wasn’t there before, so now I’m making sure to take extra good care of my skin to protect it from getting any less damage!
In this post, I’m going to talk a little bit more about my personal skin concerns and how I’m addressing them. I’ll also be recommending some AMAZING products and explaining how I use them to keep my skin looking and feeling hydrated and healthy! And I’m going to give you a little bit of insight into my morning and evening routines so that you can see how I keep my skin clean and healthy.
As always, if you have any skincare or makeup tips, I would love to hear about them! You can leave a comment below this post or tag me on Instagram, @rrayyme. Let’s help each other learn how to take better care of our skin!
My Skin Concerns as a 30-Year-Old
Before I dive into some of the fantastic products that I use to take care of my skin, I wanted to talk a little bit more about my skin concerns. The truth is, I’m not as young as I used to be, and my skin has changed as I’ve gotten a little older. As I said earlier, I have some sun damage on my face that I didn’t have in my 20s. Reducing the appearance of sunspots and hyperpigmentation as well as preventing any further sun damage is a HUGE priority for me.
As I said earlier — when sun damage is done, it’s done. There is no way to “undo” sun damage — but you can protect yourself! That’s why I use SPF on my face every single day. Since I live an active lifestyle and I enjoy spending time outside, I put a little SPF on my face every day, and that protects my skin from the sun!
But sun damage isn’t my only skin concern — there are other things that can damage my skin too! One of my major concerns is free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that are missing an electron on their outer shells. Free radicals are in everything — the air we breathe, the food we eat, literally everything! The problem is that free radicals try to stabilize themselves by grabbing onto anything they can find — including your skin cells.
When free radicals grab onto your skin cells, they cause your skin to oxidize and age much faster! That’s why it’s so important to take measures to treat your skin and protect it from free radicals. It’s difficult to live in a big city like I do without exposing yourself to free radicals, but you can definitely protect your skin and keep it looking healthy for as long as possible!
And finally, the other major skin concern I have in my life right now is dryness. When I was in my 20s, my skin would be oily and greasy by the end of the day. But now, if I don’t take proper measures to keep my skin hydrated, by the end of the day, it is desert-dry and flaky! So, I make sure to use plenty of moisturizers to keep my skin healthy and hydrated!
Skincare Tip #1: Use Serums !!!
Now, there are other things I do to protect my skin from all of these concerns — the sun, free radicals, and dryness — but I find that the MOST important component of my skincare routine is SERUMS! Serums are FULL of really good ingredients, but there are two in particular that are incredibly important for me: Vitamin C and ferments.
Vitamin C is AMAZING. It is a strong free radical-fighter because it will actually attach to the free radicals in the air for you. That was, those free radicals can’t attach to your skin, and you are protected! Vitamin C is great for keeping your skin looking glowy and beautiful!
Ferments are amazing at breaking up hyperpigmentation and helping with discoloration on the skin. So, if you have sun spots or freckles like me, ferments are going to be really important for keeping your skin looking even.
One of my FAVORITE products out there is Estée Lauder’s Perfectionist Pro Rapid Brightening Treatment Serum. This serum is full of both Vitamin C and ferments, and it does an amazing job of keeping my skin healthy, hydrated, and protected. I use it in the morning to protect my skin throughout the day, and I actually put it on at night too to repair any damage done during the day. I highly recommend this serum to anyone who wants to keep their skin looking bright and healthy!
My Morning Routine!
Skincare Tip #2: Moisturize!
Now that I’ve shared a little bit more about how I take care of my skin and protect it from damage, I wanted to just walk you through my morning routine to give you a better idea of how I layer products and give my skin that perfect, glassy look!
I start by using a foaming cleanser — my favorite is Uruoi’s Clean Foam Cleanser. Sometimes I find that I want to be super lazy in the mornings and just splash some water on my face to help me wake up, but I find that using a nice, gentle cleanser like this one actually helps prep my skin for my hydration products and really locks in that moisture a little more. A good cleanser should leave your skin feeling super smooth and refreshed — not dry or tight — and this one does just that! It’s totally worth the extra two minutes!
Then, I like to add some HYDRATION! Now, there are a couple of different ways I can do this, and both are AMAZING! One way I can add some hydration to my skin is by using my favorite Uruoi’s S3 Extra Mild Lotion and my holy grail product, Uruoi’s UA Deep Moisture Gel. The extra-mild lotion has this fantastic, light, watery texture, but it still has a thick enough viscosity to provide some excellent moisture. I press it into my skin because I find that that helps it to absorb. It tones and preps my skin for the next few steps.
The Deep Moisture Gel is AMAZING for providing beautiful hydration! It sinks deep into my skin, and it actually works as a toner, essence, and moisturizer all in one, and you can use it as a sleep mask, massage cream, or body lotion, too! It hydrates my skin without looking greasy, and it’s a great base for sunscreen and makeup! HIGHLY recommend!
But there’s another great way to moisturize — masks! I like to start with a little bit of True Botanicals Nutrient Mist. This just gives me a little bit of hydration and gives my skin the nutrients it needs to look and feel healthy! Then, I put a couple of Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Eye Patches under my eyes to really firm the skin and act like a little highlighter. On top of those, I put on whatever face mask I have, such as this Flashmasque Illuminate 5-Minute Sheet Mask. I let those rest on my face for five minutes, and during that time I like to use my Rose Quartz Facial Roller to give my face a little massage.
When the five minutes are up, I peel off all the masks and gently pat all that product and treatment into my skin! This makes me feel sooooo GOOD! My skin feels hydrated and beautiful, and I’m ready to move on to the next steps.
Final Prep Steps Before Makeup
Before I put my makeup on, there are just two more products I like to use to prep my face and protect it throughout the day. One is the Perfectionist Pro Rapid Brightening Treatment Serum that I mentioned earlier. I use two pumps of this serum, and it just protects my skin from free radicals and reduces the appearance of discoloration and hyperpigmentation so that my skin looks bright and beautiful!
And finally, I’ll add some of this EltaMD UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 sunscreen. This protects my skin from getting any further sun damage! And now that I’ve completed these steps, I’m ready for any makeup I want to wear. And more importantly, my skin is hydrated, healthy, prepped for any sun exposure or free radicals I might come in contact with, and I feel BEAUTIFUL!
My Night Routine!
So that was my morning routine, but what about my night routine? I love to do face masks at night and even while I’m sleeping to repair any damage done during the day make sure my skin is happy and healthy!
Remember that serum I’ve been talking about? I can use it at night too! Before I go to bed I put on a little more of the Perfectionist Pro Rapid Brightening Treatment Serum, and that just gives my skin all that good Vitamin C and ferments to make my face bright and even.
But sometimes, I have specific skincare concerns that pop up, and one product just isn’t going to be enough to address all of them. That’s when I use this BRILLIANT skincare hack: multi-masking.
Skincare Tip #3: Multi-mask!
Multi-masking is INCREDIBLE! It’s basically where you just use multiple different masks on different areas of your face to address the different concerns and problems you might see. I recommend running a bath with some Epsom salts or a bath bomb, lighting a candle, listening to some calming music, and drinking a cup of your favorite tea while you multi-mask. It makes the whole experience so relaxing and fun!
When I multi-mask, I have several products I like to use. One is this Ginger Leaf & Hibiscus Firming Mask around my smile lines. If YA DIDN’T KNOW, I smile and laugh a lot lol! So ever since turning 30, I’ve been taking more preventative measures to keep my smile lines looking smooth and fine. I’ve been applying this air-whipped mask almost every other day before bed. Also, it’s an overnight mask, so you don’t have to rinse it off if you’re using it solo!
After that, I apply this Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Mask to my T-zone and any areas where I have breakouts. This mask is made from Amazonian white clay and helps to minimize pores and detoxify skin. Perfect for the oily areas! It absorbs the oil but doesn’t leave skin dry since there’s aloe vera in it! This is one of my favorite masks to use all over my face, too, especially when I get home from travels.
Next, I apply this Calendula and Aloe Soothing Hydration Mask to my cheeks. This mask is superrr hydrating and cooling to target redness and dryness. Ding ding ding, perfect for my cheeks especially with the changes in weather in winter! I tend to get these little bumps, hives, and dry patches on my cheeks — super annoying... but that means it’s time for some soothing TLC.
And finally, I finish up with this Youth Dose Eye Treatment. Not only is this wrinkle-fighting, but it immediately brightens and erases fine lines under the eyes. I am hooked on this product! It really firms up the skin around my eyes to keep me looking youthful and awake!
And there ya have it! I let all those products dry for about 15 minutes to give my skin time to soak up all that goodness, and then I rinse it all off and prepare for bed!
