Curb Sugar with this Replenish Bowl
Let's talk about sugar. We love to love it - and we love to hate it.
To some extent, we are hardwired to crave sugar. Our bodies use glucose as a primary fuel source, so our brains have evolved to like sweeter foods. Consuming sugar activates the brain’s reward system. Dopamine, the feel-good chemical messenger, is released and reinforces our desire for sugar. When we frequently consume sugary foods, our brains adapt to require more sugar to reap the same rewarding feeling. In other words, the more sugar you consume, the more you crave it.
See how it's a slippery slope?
What's the main reason behind your cravings?
You aren't eating enough!
Yes, you read that right. One of the first things I recommend to people wanting to lose fat and get into better shape is to eat MORE, not LESS.
When we don't take in enough calories, our body starts looking for the quick fix, the fast fuel- as a way to catch up. Sugar gives you a quick high, a quick energy...but it's not QUALITY energy. It's just a short term pleasure.
Cutting calories is a sure fire way to sugar-craving hell.
QUICK FIX
Choose some artificial sweeteners! They will momentarily satisfy your sweet tooth craving.
JUST KIDDING.
You all know us better than that by now, there are no quick fixes around here.
Artificial sweeteners only trick your brain into thinking that it's getting fuel. When your body finds out that your brain is playing tricks, those cravings come roaring back yet again, in the form of... you guessed it, sugar, and you're back at square one again.
Like a tweaker getting a fix.
We offer no quick fixes, but we do have HACKS that can help.
Calories count, but you ain't gotta count them.
Nutrient dense calories are the only way to provide real/sustainable energy to your body. Take in wholesome calories that provide adequate protein, fat, and carbohydrates & you won't have to deal with sugar cravings.
