The Best On-The-Go Healthy Spots in LA
Hi Happy Saturday!!
This week has been one of my busiest weeks all year for me with shoots, events, and panels back to back so apologies for being MIA on the blog~
I'm excited to be back!
Today is all about my favorite places to eat and drink between meetings when I'm out and about in the city. Over the last few years I've gravitated towards this same list of places because I admit once I love something I go back over and over and over and over : )
These spots are healthy, delicious and range from green juice/ smoothie shops to vegan comfort food and filling salads.
by Chloe is a vegan comfort food spot in Silverlake. You can't go wrong with the classic burger and their beet ketchup is SO GOOD. They also have breakfast, salads, yummy baked goods and an array of fresh juices on tap. Last time I went I got their banana pancakes and omg they were soooo soft and dreamy and the coconut cream topping was amaze. This place is great if you're in a hurry, for a girls lunch date or if you're craving something put still want to feel good after eating!
They have a great selection of juices and smoothies and also use unique ingredients from peas to even red bell pepper. Last time I went I had the Avocado Shake and Green Shield juice! The space is also so cute and a great place to get work done.
Say hello to this beautiful smoothie shop! They know everything about adaptogens in here and before you can say ashawaghanda they'll blend you up the perfect smoothie to get you buzzing through the day! They also have wellness shots, steeped elixirs and probiotics tonics. They clearly don't mess around with sourcing ingredients so you can feel good about your choices in here.
Poke bowls are popping up all over LA but I wanted to share one of my favs. I always opt to make my own bowl because I can get exactly what I'm craving that day. They also have two daily housemate refreshments on tap. I had the strawberry lemonade last time and it was sooo refreshing. My favorite base is sea weed salad and kelp rice but you can't go wrong with the combos you make yourself. The flavors, texture and freshness is all on point. The location on 3rd street has a ton of natural light, light wood and white decor details that are also super cute. My favorite part is the patio in the front to soak in some sun while eating.
I am obsessed. Whenever I'm in the east side, I have to stop by. I get the Thai green curry with organic turkey meatballs, coconut milk and jade rice plus a matcha bulletproof style. Yummm. Aerial and I wrote our New Years resolutions here while we had lunch but If you're in a hurry taking the curry to go and warming it up at home works because it still tastes just as delicious.
Neighborhood spot off La Brea whenever I'm craving a delicious and HEARTY salad. My go-to order is the Italian Chop Salad with Raddichio, Kale, Cabbage, Tomatoes, Almonds, Chicken, Golden Beets, Parmesan, Lemon Vinaigrette or The Mediterranean gem salad (the dates are my favorite part). If it is your first time I definitely recommend the Italian Chop. And if you take this to-go or even have left overs a day later the salad is still delicious. Afterwards treat yourself to one of their delicious pastries.
I only go for the Whole Macrobiotic Bowl on the menu because it's one of my favorite things ever. The garlic tahini dressing tastes so good and I love how FULL but CLEAN I feel afterwards. Theres an abundance of texture from the almonds, kale, sea kelp, kimchi, sweet potato, and Azuki beans and I recommend mixing the bowl all together to taste all the flavors at once. The interior is always so beautiful at all locations too.
When I'm in a rush and I'm craving a fresh green juice that is made on the spot and ONLY $4.99 I hit up my neighborhood Yummy store. Yummy is a grocery store and some locations ( I would check ahead of time) have a fresh deli/juice bar. You can select an array of veggies/fruits as you want and they juice it on the spot. It's as fresh as you can get it and so cheap!
Another favorite spot because they have a healthy curry udon and of course I die over it. I'm an udon fanatic and they do it so well! If you want to make this dish gluten free you can order the same curry with brown rice- I've had to do this when I was on the clean program. The udon comes with grilled tofu and veggies on top and with a squeeze of lime, it's such a filling comforting and savory dish.
Really really good place to grab a salad on the go if you haven't been already! My go-to order is the Earth Bowl with modifications: arugula, wild rice, chickpeas, grapes, cheddar cheese, tomato, corn, broccoli, tofu, with the pesto dressing. If I'm going to have a salad, it better be FILLING and you bet this one is. I usually can't finish it in one sitting and will have the rest later.
I hope you guys enjoy these suggestions and have a chance to try some of their AMAZING menu's!
Love you!
